Weekly Update March 24, 2014

Good morning Honors Niners!

We have a couple of updates so please look through the information below.

THANK YOU to all who volunteered at the fashion show this past week. We raised around $800 for Relay For Life and we couldn’t have done it without all the help!

Relay For Life:

We are 11 days away from Relay For Life on Friday, April 4th starting at 6pm to 6am.

Important Announcement: Relay For Life will now be held in the SAC instead of on the Belk Track. Since we will be inside, there are many new rules that we have to follow and we can no longer deep-fry candy bars. The rules on food are very strict inside a building, so now we will be having a Photo Booth for people to have their photo taken with decorations and our 70s theme. We will have mini printers there, so people can pay for their picture. We will also be selling bags of candy with any of the candy we had already collected.

We will need Honors students walking around the track at all time throughout the night. We will also need volunteers to take photos, sell goods, and work at the booth. Please sign up on the google doc to fill all of the volunteer spots.

·         Committee meeting: Tuesday, March 25th at 6:00 in the Student Union 269. ANYONE in the Honors college can attend the meeting so please spread the word.

·         Please, please take a moment to JOIN our Relay team online. We have over 500 students in the Honors College and only 54 people have joined the team so far. We would love to have as many members as possible.

 Time Warner Cable Volunteering

We will be volunteering at the Time Warner Cable Arena with the Bobcats on Wednesday, March 26^th and Monday, March 31^st from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. We need 10-15 volunteers to participate and we could raise up to $500 for our Relay team. Remember that any money raised will be split amongst volunteers’ goals. Crisis Assistance Ministry:

General Body Meeting

The LAST UHP meeting will be next Tuesday, April 1 from 5-6 in Student Union 340 HI. We will be taking nominations for officers at this meeting, so bring ideas of our awesome members that you may want to nominate.
