Weekly Update March 18, 2013


Hi Honors Niners!
The end of the semester is closely approaching, so we’ve got a lot of announcement.
 
Relay for Life
April 5th from 6pm to 6am at the Belk Track
We challenge everyone to make a commitment to participate in the event in any way.

Candy Sales for Relay will be on April 20th Sign up to help from 10-4:
 
Black and White Affair
April 6th at 7:30 in the Harris Alumni Center
Dress up and come out for food, dancing, and lots of fun!
Tickets are being sold in the UHP office:
$5 for Relay for Life team members, $8 for non-members and will be $10 at the door

 
The Couture for a Cure Fashion Show 
This Friday, March 22nd at 7:00 in Storrs.
Tickets will be $5 and proceeds go to Relay for Life

Promising Pages Book Drive
Sponsored by UNC Charlotte Academic Services
March 25th-29th, 2013 
We are collecting:
·        New and gently used books for children and adults of all ages!
·        Any type of wrapping paper and tape to wrap the books as gifts.
You can bring these items to the Honors College office in Cone
 
"Personalized Genomic Medicine"
As part of the Genomics and the Future of Medicine Series with guest speaker Hank Greely on Wednesday, March 27 from 12:30-2:00pm in the College of Health and Human Services Building room 128 for a lunch/workshop.  This event is free and open to the public.  Due to limited seating please RSVP to ethicscenter@uncc.edu by March 20, 2013.  Reservations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
 
The Civility Project
On April 4th , outside the Belk Tower, there will be dramatic readings on love, forgiveness, peace, civility and courage. Volunteers are needed to do the readings throughout the day. See the student union website for ways to sign up.
 
Registration is on Monday, March 25th. Underclassmen, start to make appointments now with your Major Advisor so you will not have any registration holds.
Also, UHP members are encouraged to make appointments with the Honors office for advising.
